The Book of Optics

The Book of Optics (Persian: Ketāb e Manzarehā (کتاب منظره ها) Arabic: Kitāb al-Manāẓir‎ (كتاب المناظر); Latin: De Aspectibus or Opticae Thesaurus: Alhazeni Arabis) was a seven-volume treatise on optics, physics, mathematics, anatomy

and psychology written by the Muslim scientist, Ibn al-Haytham (in Europe, Latinized as Alhacen or Alhazen), from 1011 to 1021, when he was under house arrest in Cairo, Egypt.

The book had an important influence on the development of optics, as it laid the foundations for modern physical optics after drastically transforming the way in which light and vision had been understood, and on science in general with its introduction of the experimental

scientific method. With this new-found revolutionized view of light and vision, this book is actually the first ever effort in recorded human history that is indirectly paving the way to the birth of motion picture.

That is why I choose the blog title as The Book of Optics. In this blog, I will share with you all of the recommended movies for your viewing pleasure. Coming Soon: I Love You Philip Morris

I Love You Phillip Morris is a 2009 film based on the real life events of con artist, impostor, and multiple prison escapee Steven Jay Russell(Jim Carrey).
Jim Carrey stars as Steven Russell. I Love You Phillip Morris will place him in a role which is shockingly different from what many fans would be used to. Jim Carrey had always starred in many well-known and hilarious comedies including The Mask, Bruce Almighty, and the Ace Ventura series. He deviated to much more serious and dark roles in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and The Number 23. I Love You Phillip Morris will be yet another drastic change from what Jim Carrey has traditionally involved himself with, especially considering the sexual nature of this upcoming film. Ewan McGregor (Star Wars – new trilogy, The Island, Big Fish) will co-star in I Love You Phillip Morris as Jim Carrey’s cell-mate and object of affection. These two actors are promising for their lead casts in I Love You Phillip Morris.

After original difficulty finding a U.S. distributor, likely due to its homosexual content, the film was re-edited. It was recently announced by Variety that Consolidated Pictures Group has acquired the rights for distribution. As of yet, the film has not found distribution for the UK.

The film was adapted from I Love You Phillip Morris: A True Story of Life, Love, and Prison Breaks by Steve McVicker.

Plot

While incarcerated, Russell falls in love with his cell mate, Phillip Morris (Ewan McGregor). After Morris is released from prison, Russell escapes from prison four times in order to be reunited with Morris.

Coming Soon: Iron Man 2

Iron Man 2 is an upcoming 2010 superhero film, based on the Marvel Comics fictional character Iron Man. The film is directed by Jon Favreau, with Robert Downey, Jr. reprising the title role. The film is to be released on April 28 (Belgium, Sweden and France), April 30 (UK & AU) and May 7 (North America), 2010.

In an interview with USA Today, director Jon Favreau revealed that the sequel is set six months after the events of Iron Man. Favreau also discussed how their version of Iron Man's comic book nemesis the Mandarin "allows us to incorporate the whole pantheon of villains". He also mentioned that S.H.I.E.L.D. will continue to have a major role.

During development, Favreau said the film would explore Stark's alcoholism, but it would not be "the Demon in a Bottle version".Downey said, while promoting the first film, that Stark (Robert Downey, Jr.) would probably develop a drinking problem as he is unable to cope with his age, the effects of revealing he is Iron Man, as well as Pepper (Gwyneth Paltrow) getting a boyfriend. Before filming began, Downey revealed that while the film was not an adaptation of the Demon in a Bottle storyline from the comic book series, it was more about the "interim space" between the origin and the Demon story arc.

Jon Favreau said it was his intent to create a film trilogy for Iron Man, with Obadiah Stane (Jeff Bridges) becoming Iron Monger during the sequels. However, Stane became the main villain in Iron Man after a meeting between Favreau and various comic book writers, including Mark Millar. Millar argued the Mandarin, whom Favreau originally intended to be the main villain, was too fantastical. Favreau concurred, deciding "I look at Mandarin more like how in Star Wars you had the Emperor, but Darth Vader is the guy you want to see fight. Then you work your way to the time when lightning bolts are shooting out of the fingers and all that stuff could happen. But you can't have what happened in Return of the Jedi happen in A New Hope. You just can't do it."

Justin Theroux signed to write the script in July 2008, which is based on a story written by Jon Favreau and Robert Downey, Jr. Theroux co-wroteTropic Thunder, and Downey recommended him to Marvel. Genndy Tartakovsky storyboarded the film. Shane Black gave some advice on the script, and suggested to Favreau and Downey that they model Stark on J. Robert Oppenheimer, who became depressed with being "the destroyer of worlds" after working on the Manhattan Project. Adi Granov returned to supervise the designs for Iron Man's armor.

Filming will primarily take place at Raleigh Studios in Manhattan Beach, California.

Principal photography began April 6, 2009, at the Pasadena Masonic Temple. The fake working title was Rasputin. And filming also took place at Edwards Air Force Base and also at the 2009 Monaco Grand Prix. The film's principal photography concluded on July 20, 2009.

Plot

In the sequel, Mickey Rourke will play Whiplash, a character that includes elements from that comic book villain and Crimson Dynamo, another Russian baddie. Sam Rockwell will play Justin Hammer, a multibillionaire businessman and a rival of industrialist Tony Stark, AKA Iron Man, being played by a returning Robert Downey Jr.

Tragically Christy died in an accident. Or so says sister Viki. But that doesn't stop her from throwing herself into Tommy's arms, until their blissful reunion is interrupted by Christy's current fiancee, Frank an electronic store magnate.

Viki strikes again! But she only lied to her brother about Christy's demise to protect him from the news of Christy's nuptials. But who can protect him from his old 'friend' Gray whose video piracy operation is the reason Tommy went to jail in the first place. Gray is back on the move and trying to lure Tommy into a new scheme - and Gray isn't somebody who takes no for an answer. And while Tommy would like nothing more than to come clean to probation officer Angela, the last thing he wants to do is raise her suspicions - especially since he might be falling in love with her.

With time running out and Gray's get rich scheme advancing forward, Tommy finds himself caught between Viki who will use anything from her vast repertoire of exaggerations to save her brother, and Angela the woman he loves who also happens to enforce the law.
